Nothing deep and profound here

As I was waiting for the train today, I saw this really cool thing that I thought I'd share with you.

Waiting at Mitcham, I like standing where people lock up their bikes. So I was waiting, looking at the bike in front of me, when I notice that there's something scratched into one of them. A message. Of course curiosity wins so I have to try and read it.

"Every... worthwhile... part... has... my..." I got stuck there. Only for a bit though. The rest was obscured by the helmet, and since I was already so far in, I decided to adjust it so reveal the rest. "... license... number... on it".

...

Every worthwhile part has my license number on it.

I was genuinely hoping for something deep and profound. Nope. I guess not.

Been doing lots of healthy activities recently! Following a week of nothing since hockey field soccer, played futsal on Wednesday (followed by Brian's at night), cricket yesterday and then a bit more "futsal" today. Good times all round.

Just on futsal on Wednesday, that was hard. Conditions were stiffling, and we only had 2 teams. Even worse, me and Tom Wang played on the same team. Which meant at some point, he'd take over in goals and I'd be forced to have a run around on field. I managed to avoid it for the first hour, but then came my moment of truth. As always, I was completely lost for the first 5 minutes or so, just running up and down the left side without really knowing where the ball is or where it'll be. I finally got into the groove of things though, to an extent. I learnt that I should probably stay out of defence, too much responsibility. Much more fun running around up forward. I'd like to think I set up a goal or two, had one or two to convert as well. All in all, a good run.

Brad Pitt crush continued

I had a great moment today. It was midday and I was very much bored. I had two choices, either watch Ocean's 13 again or go and bake a cake. I chose to bake. It was such a great choice to be able to have, I don't know why but I felt so... free.

So the cake we made. It was ok. I got to try out the new springform pan, that was pretty much the only thing that made it worth it. The tin was so awesome! I opened it up and it just came away sooooo easily and took away such a large amount of grief. However it was a bit of a pain in the ass trying to line the damn thing, but I got there eventually.

I also did end up watching Ocean's 13 again. Love the Brad Pitt.

Birrrffffddddaaaayyy!!!

It has been over a week since the last update. How much has happened since then? Just a little bit. Ooh. Aah. A little bit more. Ooh. Aah. Just a little bit. I know what you're searching for.

*ahem* What did actually happen? Had the final exam on Wednesday, mathematics. Quite easily the best exam I've done since last year's first spesh paper. It was a fantastic 150 minutes. It is the absolutely perfect exam for me. Because even though calculators are allowed, it's basically a calc-free exam. So you can do it all in your head and then consult the calculator. Brilliant! I'm expecting at least 90 for maths now, anything less and I will begin to doubt my ability to check over exams.

The next day was my birthday! The day I turned 19. How old am I now?! Not that old, still young enough to be a teenager but not so young that I'm considered rash. It's a bit of an in-between age, 19 is. At least there's a fun reason to celebrate next year, the last year as a teenager. Thankies for all the messages!

Then futsal on Friday! Good session it was. Really good. Played for the entire two hours once again, no breaks, but I was happy for it. It was actually physically taxing on me, something that usually doesn't happen. Had an absolutely great time though. On our team was me, Jase Yang, Jin, Duc and Jamie with Brian on the bench. There was this five minute period when us five could not stop laughing. We were pissing ourselves for no reason at all. Well there was a reason, the standard of our play had dropped so low and everything we did was hilarious to everyone else. It reached a high point when there was it was our kick-off after conceding a goal (due to suspect defending and goal keeping). Four of us were lined up and someone was in the middle ready to lay it off. I was standing next to Jin and the ball was rolled in his direction, but I felt a little greedy and ran to pinch it from him. However it was on my right foot so all I did was push it slightly forward. Much to my luck (or my brilliant, subconscious vision), it turned into through ball for Brian who weaved his way around their defence and slotted past Tom Wang.

However! Funniest moment of the day goes to someone whoever wasn't there. Tom Wu, not usually noted for hilarity, wasn't able to join us because his car broke down on the way. What makes it funny is his car is clearly the least... modern of everyone's and it was only a matter of time.

The next day was Saturday. And on Saturdays we have pho parties! Thankies again for everyone for coming and all the lovely presents.

That's about all I feel like writing right now. I predict an epic rant tomorrow. Let's cross our fingers!

Time

I've been complaining to people recently that there are too many hours in a day to fill. Only now do I realise how terribly wrong that is. However I'm not doing a full 180 and saying there aren't enough hours, I think 24 is a splendid number. The problem comes in the number of hours available for efficient use. Take away 10-11 for sleeping (which includes time spent lying in bed doing nothing), 2 for meals and suddenly I'm left with only 11 hours. Eleven hours of consciousness. And how many of these can be used as effective study? For me, it's about 2-3 hours MAX. Hence we are left with eight hours to do other crap.

That still sounds like a lot, but I'm finding I'm still a little short on time of late. Cut out three for travel time to and from uni, we have five left. And than another four for tetris, only one left. One hour! Now that's what I'm talking about!

Ok, so I might be able to find time by playing less tetris, not going to uni or not sleeping as much. But then how boring would life be?

Onto other things, no one reminded me to book futsal yesterday! Bunch of no goods. Luckily I remembered this morning and did it pronto. The courts are booked, not the ideal 2-4 but instead 1.45-3.45. Huge shift yeah? I thought so too.

I'm also getting back into the groove of thinking of blog posts when I'm walking home, and then totally forgetting them when I remember I Was meant to post something. From yesterday's walk, all I remember is that I was meant to give the two-finger salute to someone or a certain group of people who did something, just not quite sure who or what. Shows a lot about my personality though, hating people but not remembering why.

Damn you, facebook

I reactivated the facebook. It's probably a bit earlier than I would have liked but I realised that the deactivation of facebook coincided with a noticable downturn of happiness in life. Sad, I know. Not so much unhappiness created by facebook, but all that goes with it. And wouldn't you know it, as soon as we bring it back things are already on the up. However it may just be coincidence, so we can't jump to any conclusions.

I really should have made a post yesterday, I had so many things to write about. Since then, I've forgotten them all. Shame, really.

Someone remind me to book futsal tomorrow! If I don't, pretty much all my plans will go down the crapper. So we must.

Cheesecako!

It finally happened. It was inevitible, but I guess I was never truly prepared for it. I knew that it was only a matter of time, but it still surprised the heck out of me. Yep, no more dragging it out.

For the first time in my life, I called upon maths for something mildly useful. I was sitting at dinner tonight at some restaurant thinking about baking, as you should. I was wondering whether or not it was worth trying to make brownies in a round tin instead of the rectangle tin, because it'd be easier to take out. So I was trying to figure out the largest possible square I could fit in the round tin. I won't go into the maths because it's not all that complicated or interesting, but I still got a real buzz out of it.

Speaking of baking, I made a cheesecake last night! It was a rough ride that ultimately didn't end very well. However the thing with baking is, you can screw something up so bad but it can still taste pretty good. And that's exactly what happened. The thing was ugly as heck, but oh my goodness it tastes nice. Hopefully next time I'll remember to read the entire recipe and know what I have to do before I start. And hopeully I won't start working at 9pm and not stop still 2am. And I will almost definitely have an assistant.

Fun news!

I'm at uni, posting from my laptop while sitting opposite someone as close to a stranger as possible without being one. How cool!

Two "news" stories caught my eye today. The first is of a snake eating a bird, and the second is of a spider eating a bird. See a trend?

The photos in each of them are truly scary, horrific and absolutely flipping awesome at the same time. I kept on asking myself what they did with the giant spider, because I sure as heck wouldn't want that thing in my backyard.

Oh and to top it all off? The expert in the latter of the article has the hilarious name "Mr. Shakespeare". Gold!
